MY LOVE
Finally, the bus moves. I've
been sitting in the hot unprotected cage for close to an hour. For a journey that will take twenty minutes. I
should have taken the car but my wife had to take it out. Little sacrifices. I was going home after having spent possibly
the most amazing morning I've had in forever. So I really wasn't feeling the
wait. With a constant string of tuface songs blasting from my phone in the
earpiece, how could I? I sat in the front with the driver as I nodded to the
beat and often sang along, much to the irritation of the guy who's sharing the
seat with me. He doesn't get it. He can't.
The phone rings through the
earpiece. I pressed the receive button.
"Hello?"
"Hi honey" the
sweet voice answered
"hey love"
"Er...where are you?"
"I’m heading home.
What's up? Missing me already?"
"Well, of course I miss
you."
"I know, I miss you too.
Its a beautiful morning. Loved every minute"
"Me too. Considering how
things have been lately, I wasn't too sure you'd love it."
"How could I not? I told
you I'll take care of everything"
"Really?"
"Of course, anything for
you my darling."
"Errm...okay. Is
everything alright?"
"Perfect. Everything is
just perfect."
"So, you will be able to
buy the.."
"But of course nah, did
I not say I will?"
"That's good. Thanks so
much honey."
"Anytime babygirl"
"Erm...so when will you
get here?"
"Haha!! Kemi, didn't I
just leave your place?!"
"Hun?! My place?!"
At that point something
switched in me and i realise that I hadn't checked the caller ID when I picked
the call. I dip my hand in my pocket, my heart racing with a dreadful thought.
As I look at the fone screen,
I realise how true is what is said. When you love someone badly, every voice sounds
like theirs.
"Michael,....who's kemi"
Too late I realise, I hadn't
been talking with the woman I love. It was my wife who'd calledm
