MY LOVE

Finally, the bus moves. I've been sitting in the  hot unprotected cage for close to an hour. For a journey that will take twenty minutes. I should have taken the car but my wife had to take it out. Little sacrifices.  I was going home after having spent possibly the most amazing morning I've had in forever. So I really wasn't feeling the wait. With a constant string of tuface songs blasting from my phone in the earpiece, how could I? I sat in the front with the driver as I nodded to the beat and often sang along, much to the irritation of the guy who's sharing the seat with me. He doesn't get it. He can't.
The phone rings through the earpiece. I pressed the receive button.
"Hello?"
"Hi honey" the sweet voice answered
"hey love"
"Er...where are you?"
"I’m heading home. What's up? Missing me already?"
"Well, of course I miss you."
"I know, I miss you too. Its a beautiful morning. Loved every minute"
"Me too. Considering how things have been lately, I wasn't too sure you'd love it."
"How could I not? I told you I'll take care of everything"
"Really?"
"Of course, anything for you my darling."
"Errm...okay. Is everything alright?"
"Perfect. Everything is just perfect."
"So, you will be able to buy the.."
"But of course nah, did I not say I will?"
"That's good. Thanks so much honey."
"Anytime babygirl"
"Erm...so when will you get here?"
"Haha!! Kemi, didn't I just leave your place?!"
"Hun?! My place?!"
At that point something switched in me and i realise that I hadn't checked the caller ID when I picked the call. I dip my hand in my pocket, my heart racing with a dreadful thought.
As I look at the fone screen, I realise how true is what is said. When you love someone badly, every voice sounds like theirs.

"Michael,....who's kemi"

Too late I realise, I hadn't been talking with the woman I love. It was my wife who'd calledm
